James Wallace "Son" Simms

Buried in Centuries Memorial Cemetery
Shreveport, LA
(Jackie's first cousin once removed)

James Wallace Simms, was known as "Son" to all of our families growing up in Shreveport, LA, so the background music "My Son" is so apropos.  "Son" was a son of  Thomas Milton and Winifred "Winnie" Elizabeth "Betty" Poole Sims.  Uncle Tom was a brother of Cleo Sims Josey's dad.   "Son" had three sisters, Elizabeth (Bush) Sims Ethridge, Mary Caela (Coila) Sims Graves, and one living sibling.

Here is a picture of "Son's" mother, Elizabeth Poole Sims, to the right.  After Elizabeth died in 1929, Thomas married Vera Elizabeth Nance in 1932 and they had three children, of whom two are still living, and Dan Sims, who is deceased.  "Son" and Dan's pictures are on the military cemetery page under the Josey allied names.  So, of course, that makes "Son" and Dan half brothers.  "Son" and Dan Sims are both on the Fair Park High School memories page, because they both played football for Fair Park High School.

The "Sims" name was usually spelled with only one "m," but even on my mother's marriage license, her name was spelled Cleo Simms, where all of the other records have her entire family listed as Sims.
